What a great opportunity to not only talk to one magazine, but two at the same time!! In the middle of the TIME interview the interviewer contacted another collegue from Sports Illustrated for Kids and we had a very fun, unexpected, spontaneous interview! I had the wonderful opportunity to speak to both Sports Illustrated for Kids and TIME for Kids about my platform Best Bones Forever because it focuses on teens and adolescent youths!! Both magazines focus on healthy living and our campaign is perfect for them!!
During this interview, I met a young girl, Rachel, who has juvenile osteoporosis. She is the first person I have met that had osteoporosis as a child. It strikes children between the ages of 5-13 and disappears when they reach puberty! In her case though, she is still living with the effects of it. Rachel was in ballet for years, but repeatedly had bone fractures in her feet and through bone density tests learned about this disease. She is doing well now, but no longer dances. I also learned during this interview that she was just crowned homecoming queen!! Rachel is a sweetheart and I hope our paths will cross again!!
