The crowning line up! I love this picture, but I feel a little old considering I'm the last one on the train haha!! ; )

My mom and I had the opportunity to judge the National American Miss Pageant this year! There are 5 different age groups for the state of Michigan; Princess, Jr Pre-Teen, Pre-Teen, Jr Teen, and Teen. They have a Miss division as well, but does not have it's own pageant because there are not enough contestants at the state level to hold it for them. I judged the Princess though Pre-Teen division and my mom judged the Jr Teen and Teen division. I am a former Miss Michigan Jr Teen 2006 and the Director Mr. Lew figured I wouldn't know any of the little girls. I only knew one I couldn't judge compared to the 5 I knew in the Teen division.

It was great to be on the other side of pageantry! I had never judged a pageant before. Last year the director wanted me to judge the pageant, but I was competing for Miss Oakland County which was on the same weekend. It was great to catch up with all the former NAMiss girls!! I try to go every year to watch and support the girls! I've noticed our Jr Teen "Crowning line" is getting longer!! Haha!! When I wasn't doing my judging duties and just being Miss Oakland County, I helped the girls in rehearsal to get them ready in between outfit changes for the pageant! So many corsets, so little time!! All the girls looked beautiful and I'm glad I could help!

It is because of the NAMiss program that I started to compete in pageants! If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be where I am today and the person I have become! I am so grateful for all of my experiences!

I often tell the girls that they should never give up! I competed my first year when I was 12 years old! I was a foot taller than all the other pre-teen contestants, but I won 8 trophies my first pageant! The next year I moved up into the Jr Teen divison and placed 1st runner up out of 121 girls!! The next year I competed I placed first runner up again!! And the 4th year I finally won the title of Miss Michigan Jr Teen 2006 out of 161 contestants!!

So to all the young ladies who are the new titleholders, have a blast at Nationals and really take everything in! It is a wonderful experience and all of the places you get to visit are really a once in a lifetime opportunity!! And don't forget to get a picture with Mickey at Disneyland for me! : )

Congratulations to all the girls who competed, you are winners just for trying and doing your best!!

Much love,
Elizabeth :)

I was invited to be a part of this special evening and had the opportunity to meet with the locals. It was a warm evening and a real treat to eat homemade ice cream! It was delicious! I even played a little croquet in heels none the less! The visitors were very welcoming and supportive on my journey to Miss Michigan!

It was my pleasure to meet and greet these special people and serve them ice cream and goodies! While learning a little bit about Farmington Hills and the Mansion!

The redheads!

On August 8th I had the opportunity to go to Katie LaRouche's Homecoming! She looked absolutely beautiful as always! It was great to see her and catch up with her on her busy journey to Miss America! Cassandra Kramer was the hostest for the Homecoming and did a fabulous job! Friends shared stories they had with Katie before her pageant life and during the pageant experience. She now has her own day dedicated to her for her outstanding work with her platform and being Miss Michigan! Katie recieved the key to the city, from the Mayor, and I could tell that meant the world to her!

It was wonderful seeing new titleholders and formers to show their support to Katie! I was absent from the pageant world as I was completing a college internship at Disney World for 5 months and appreciated catching up with all my friends!

It was a great day in Katie's honor!
